When you hear the word "truant" what springs to mind? For me, it means a kid who refuses to attend school. For Clarksville Community School Corporation, it means children who go to too many doctor's appointments or medical treatments. Like my daughter, who's being treated pre-operatively for her scoliosis with weekly physical therapy. It causes her to miss (gasp) 3 hours of school a week. This brings her former straight-As down to just A-B honor roll. The horror!

I wonder if kids on dialysis are also considered truant? Or kids who get chemotherapy treatments?

Way to further ostracize sick kids, #ThinkClarksville. It's not enough these kids have to wear a brace all day long, but now you officially brand them delinquents.

Way to go CCSC. This policy is terrible; very unfair. I know getting an education is important, but there are things more important...like a child's health, physical, mental and emotional.

Mr. Martin, praying that all will be well for your daughter.
