Defeated 6-1 vote.  A lot of talk about educational equity, yet, these two schools perform at a higher level than the two schools that this board will inundate with too many additional students.  We are being set up.

To favor this plan you have to value ease of administration over actual achievement.

To favor this plan you have to be happy with continually declining enrollments, even as the community grows.

To favor this plan you have to be willing to be misled and manipulated by an administration that is out of touch and increasingly out of control.

To favor this plan you have to put contractors and consultants ahead of communities and kids.

Step 1 - replace board members

Step 2 - fire Melin (even though it will cost half a million to buy out his contract)

A half million sounds like a bargain this morning.

On an unrelated note, after waking up with what feels like a terrible hangover though I didn't drink a drop, anyone know where one could get some good pitchforks and torches?

Asking for a friend.

Ask yourself "WHY" ---

WHY did he insist on pushing the vote to close these two schools so hurriedly?

WHY did he want it done in July when school was not in session and people on vacation?

WHY did he call it the "Jeffersonville Elementary Transition Plan" rather than a vote to close two high performing schools?

WHY was he upset when the media learned about his "plan" before he wanted it to get out?

WHY did he refuse to hold a meeting in the communities affected?

WHY did he pay J. Lake (architects) $14,875 for a site survey at Bridgepoint in May BEFORE the Board  had even voted on a bond issue for Bridgepoint?

WHY did he take the payment to J. Lake from the $8.4 million bond project money that had NOTHING allocated in it for Bridgepoint expansion?

WHY did he only agree to possibly build a new school AFTER the mayor found out about his plan to close the 2 schools?

WHY is he waiting until January to supposedly issue bonds for a new building?

Where is the honesty?   Where is the transparency?   Why won't he share his "real plan" for these two schools and others?   Thomas Jefferson is the oldest school in the district.  My guess is that it is next on the chopping block.   Plus I believe it won't be long until he announces closing NWHS and bussing the kids to CHS.   Look at the money he is spending on CHS --- and how little is spent on NWHS.  Is he preparing for this move?

He says he cares about "equity".  It is obvious that NWHS doesn't have the resources, classes, etc. that CHS or JHS have --- certainly can't let those kiddos not have the same "advantages" as the others!   NWHS is "small" and doesn't have "equitable" services ......hmmm does that sound familiar??
