CLARKSVILLE — The new Clarksville Town Council hit the ground running Monday with a slew of new appointments and town-wide changes on the horizon.

The council passed resolutions to work toward a town manager and district voting, two of the hot-button issues several members campaigned on.

The town manager search had already begun, as the previous council voted to grant permission for the incoming council to start the search before taking office.

The council voted Monday 5-0 to pass a resolution to implement district-based voting before the next municipal election, as opposed to the system of town-wide voting that has been in place for years.

Wait, a 5/0 vote. Aren't there 7 members? 5 districts and 2 at-large seats? Who missed the first session of the new council?

According to the article, David Fisher was absent and John Gilkey abstained.
