They did hold off so that the Breakfast Club could break the news on the CCC.
:mc-smiley:

Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann

is seeking to become the next president of Ivy Tech Community College,

an unusual move that would leave Gov. Mike Pence without a running mate

at a critical time in his re-election effort.

Pence’s spokesman said Monday the governor thinks Ellspermann is an “ideal candidate” for the Ivy Tech position. The statewide community college is searching for a new president with the departure of Thomas Snyder, who has led the college since 2007.

Pence plays a commanding role over the board that will ultimately decide Snyder’s successor. All 14 members of Ivy Tech’s State Board of Trustees are appointed by the Indiana governor.

“Governor Pence believes Lt. Governor Ellspermann is uniquely qualified to lead Ivy Tech and strongly encouraged her to seek the position,” said Matt Lloyd, Pence’s spokesman. “Governor Pence believes Ivy Tech will play a key role in strengthening Indiana’s workforce and believes the lieutenant governor is an ideal candidate for the position. The governor will support the lieutenant governor's effort to lead Ivy Tech but respects the role the Board of Trustees will play in the decision-making process.”

"It allows him to look at where he's hurting", Downs said.

I can't think of any area where Pence isn't hurting...And I can't imagine how associating themselves with him at this point in time could be a good thing for anyone's political future.

If the Lt. Governor

resigns to take the Ivy Tech job,

the replacement could be named as early as April 1st.

Does Pence give all of his staff and appointees a test to make sure no "gays" undermine his authority?

Sasquatch was also spotted in Utica this evening.

There is no way. Elspermann had a Doctorate and an impressive resume and Moore barely has a HS diploma. He also has serious baggage, Pence can't afford to take on his negatives and the dirt that will come to surface again. Would be an awesome thing for the Democrats!

Lt. Gov. eyeing job leading Ivy Tech; could Jeffersonville mayor step in?
Jeffersonville mayor says he would be 'flattered' if asked to run

Wednesday, December 23, 2015
Associated Press
INDIANAPOLIS
— Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has raised the possibility

that Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann would be an "ideal" candidate to take over

the embattled Ivy Tech Community College system.
That would leave Pence needing a running mate for his 2016 re-election campaign.
The Republican governor has visited Southern Indiana multiple times and touted

its importance to the state.

He visited Jeffersonville the night before

November's election to rally in support of Mayor Mike Moore's re-election, which he won.
Moore said Wednesday as long as Ellspermann is still lieutenant governor, he would feel awkward speaking on filling her position. He said he was aware that she may be leaving.
"I would be flattered to be considered, but I haven't given it much thought," Moore, a Republican, said.

It is nice to Jeffersonville in consideration.

Gov. Pence picks Holcomb to be running mate
Tony Cook and Chelsea Schneider,
Chelsea.Schneider@indystar.com
February 9, 2016

Gov. Mike Pence

tapped Eric Holcomb on Tuesday

to be Indiana's next lieutenant governor

and his running mate for the November election.

In doing so, Pence gains a seasoned political operative with a lot of cache among Republicans — someone who could help the governor bridge a gap between social conservatives and business-oriented Republicans.

He also gains a political attack dog for what is expected to be a close campaign against Democrat John Gregg.

Pence made the announcement during a 1 p.m. news conference at the Statehouse.

Holcomb, who had been one of three Republican candidates vying to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Dan Coats, is a one-time Indiana Republican Party chairman and has been a top aide to Coats and former Gov. Mitch Daniels. He withdrew from the Senate race Monday, fueling speculation about a potential nomination for lieutenant governor.

Current Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann is seeking a job as president of Ivy Tech Community College. Her exit represents an unprecedented move in the midst of a sitting governor's re-election campaign.

The timing of her departure has been a delicate matter for the Pence administration.

Ivy Tech’s trustees, who are appointed by the governor, are conducting a national search for a new president and have said they won’t make a final decision until this summer. Lawmakers, however, have said they prefer to confirm a new lieutenant governor before the legislative session ends March 14. Otherwise, they would have to reconvene for a special session.

It was a nice story that you tried to get started.  I hope that you didn't really believe Moore had a shot.

Good guy but not anywhere close to that league.

Saville Row, Do you really believe that Mayor Moore withdrew his name from consideration BEFORE he found out that Eric Holcomb was Governor Pence's selection?

Let's do it this way. Mayor Moore found out he was not going to be selected through Sheriff Noel, who co-chaired Eric Holcomb's campaign for US Senate (and obviously knew the news early about Eric Holcomb being the governor's selection). IN order to save face and not look like he wasn't not selected, he "withdrew his name from consideration."

I once heard a very successful politician say that politics is about "claiming victory" and/or "placing blame." The mayor's withdrawal was his lame way of "claiming victory" in the eyes of the citizens of Jeff after he realized he was not considered for the job.

The mayor of Jeffersonville

is respected by the governor of Indiana.

They have a very good working relationship

and both promote the future prosperity

of Jeffersonville and Indiana.

Don't be soooo tense and hateful.

Enjoy the fun!

Saville Row, I am not tense and I always have fun. For instance, I found it amusing that the Mayor handled his failed effort at "Draft Mike" by clicking his heels and saying "there is no place like home" to wake up out of his dream.

And no, he was not seriously considered.

That is the question... Was it really on the list, or did he and his supporters create the illusion "Draft Mike?"
