Isn't she a teacher or school psychologist?  Does he have more than one ex-wife?

Didn't TG give everything to his family. Wasn't his Wife the City Attorney. If Mikes ex is an insurance agent, what the problem other than someone wanting to cause trouble.

If it is AFLAC, it is optional insurance that an employee can purchase.   I would NEVER recommend anyone buying it.  It is the worst insurance anyone can truly waste their money on!  jmo    Hopefully, the city does not pay any portion of the premiums -- in most companies it is entirely an optional insurance that is 100% paid for by the employee.   (Don't waste your money on it!!)

Unless I am mistaken, and I don't believe that I am, this is voluntary insurance.  No contact required with the city.  They would only be allowed to offer their coverage to the employees.

There would be no subsidy from the city.

IM, many people believe differently. For example, I know people who have taken both the ALFAC cancer and/or accident/surgery coverages and believe it fits quite well with common HSA plans. I guess I am not sure everyone is as universally judgemental against it as you seem to be.

City employees are free to keep the plan they already have with AFLAC if they so chose. The contract was not "given to his ex-wife" though she apparently works for, or is in training with, the company offering the voluntary, supplemental insurance.

I use my real name and I'm going with that other Chatterer, Ray Lawrence Parker, who, I'm assuming, is using his real name.

If you know the "rest of the story" do tell.

In the meantime, this is a forum and everyone is free to choose whether to use their own name (personally, I don't recommend it!) or a name of their choosing.  We're just tossing around info, rumor, and, a lot of times, innuendo.  Why would it be necessary to anyone to know that person's identity?

He almost lost his job because someone decided they did not like the way it was ran.

I wrote a really nice follow up on my phone, and lost it before sending. Frustrating when that happens.
Let's just wait and see how this develops. I will tell you mm fought the commissioners over this very thing in the past.
