How much higher?  Is it as much as insurance?

I find that very hard to believe.

Thanks, Kevin, for responding.  We don't make it easy, do we?

Lots of work to get that information. Need to make sure it's a constituent.

Is this about the city of Jeff or Clark County?  I would agree it could be difficult to keep the public defenders without the health insurance being part of the benefits.  Part-time elected officials should not eligible.

Here's the problem as I see it with the City Council:

1.  All Council members (except 1) have full time jobs.
2.  None of the Council members quit their full time jobs when they were elected to the Council
3.  I am certain that ALL of the Council members had insurance of some kind prior to being elected to the Council.
4.  Being on the City Council is a PART-TIME job.

Since the council members did NOT quit their full-time jobs after being elected, WHY should they quit their health/dental/vision insurance with ther full-time employers and expect the taxpayers to pay for it??

This is NO small perk.  It will cost the taxpayers approx. $600,000 over the next 4 years.   If the City does NOT provide insurance to part-time employees (less than 30 hours a week), why should the taxpayers provide insurance to part-time Council members???

The City Council is supposed to be fiscally responsible --- and GOOD STEWARDS of the taxpayers' dollars.  I fail to see how this is spending our tax money wisely.

While I believe that insurance benefits for part-time public defenders also needs close scrutiny, this thread is about the CITY COUNCIL.  Perhaps a new thread could be started about the waste of tax dollars in the county.

The City Council meets this coming Monday - 1/25.   Let's see if any of them have the courage and the integrity to do what is right.

Clark County Government employees have received a net gain of 1.5 % increase in pay in the last 8 years. (3% loss in county Perf offset by 3% increase in 2015.)
