That's a bit of a low blow. Autocorrect gets the best of all of us at times.

For me, willingness to get involved and attend meetings even without being paid is one thing to look at. I place a high value on that. How much value you place on it is an individual decision.

Same here.   There is lots of information that a candidate will need to know before they take office.  Attending meetings prior helps lower that massive information overload.

And attending without being paid?  You're either a public servant or you're not.  ;)

Many things come into play...Sitting at a meeting doesn't gauge

the attention level or the comprehension of an individual.

Do they have experience with Roberts Rules?

Have they ever ran a meeting?

Have they ever held a public hearing?

Lots of questions.

Going to meetings to catch up and get informed is good.

True, do they know the difference between a point of order and a point of information? That is another reason I believe candidates should attend and ask questions. Not just to be in the know about issues, but to actually observe and learn procedure. I don't think any of us are expert parliamentarians, but I think whether or not a person is showing the interest to learn is telling as to how interested they are in doing the job. Just my opinion though.

Bag Man is not derogatory where I am from sir

It depicts a person who gets the money and passes it out.

You must watch to many gangster movies.

I didn't rush anywhere, I don't hold anyones financial report.

But I did hear $ 22, 000 dollars and that is a lot of money.

1. Is that amount of income shown on the report?????

2. Is that amount showed passed out?????

3. I was going to ask this candidate but he doesn't show up to much.

4.  The form is not filled out correctly.  perhaps????

Questions should make no man upset when running for office.

Did anyone research this and find out the facts? I think it was rushing to post possibly inaccurate figures without first researching easily found facts.

1. Was that figure correct or did an inaccurate figure posted without first checking facts?

2. Was that the amount passed out ? Did anyone get the facts on the money said to be passed out?

3. Did anyone ask the candidate? Probably not hard to find? If someone was interested in facts?

4. Was the form filled out correctly? Maybe the people looking at it in the first place weren't educated enough to get the information correct before spreading the info.

Facts should be checked before resorting to name calling. Educated people maybe should only rely on other educated people to get their info from if they are not going to do the research themselves. Maybe rumor spreaders and personal character labelers should actually hold the financial reports before posting about them. I'm sure your candidate would want the facts before resorting to these accusations.

It would be nice if people posting would try to right wrongs if they did post incorrect negative info and accusations.

Wanted to ask a question not related to finances at the Historical Society.

Tom

I guess you think I am a candidate?????HAAAAAA that is funny.

I am not and neither are you, but I will be glad to speak to your actions????

When I say shows up I am speaking of public events where candidates can speak

Example Clarksville Historical Society......NO SHOW

You said you wanted to ask a candidate questions at the Historical Society meeting, but he didn't make it. You didn't make it either. You posted to Grumpy Granny on oct. 15th on the American's Best Inn Thread that you didn't go. I cut an pasted the 3 posts, 2 from you and 1 from Granny.

No...

Your thoughts, if you care to share.
I have heard from a few folks there.

Edited by Sleepy, 15 October 2015 - 03:57 PM.

Sleepy How could you have asked any questions? You said you weren't there. Then you said you wanted to ask questions, but couldn't. A candidate not making an event had no bearing on your ability to ask, because you weren't there either.

Why are you being deceitful?

Does your deceitfulness bring credibility questions about all your postings?

What is your game?

If everyone has not figured by now This site is a virtual playground

for adults.  You have people trying to help people get elected, the

majority of what I see is simply SIH   Stuff I heard.

Very few if any candidates come on this site, mainly because they end up

getting blasted by the other side.  This site used to have candidates that

held small offices all the way up to Mayors.  After a while it is just attack

attack and more attack.

Stay informed, pay attention and most everything will come out in the wash.

Most people seeking election have been active in the community and it is

easy to get feedback on them.

I enjoy reading CCC because everyone likes to play detective, post false messages

and throw the readers off.  Enjoy the site for what it is.

If you want to read about the candidates go to your mailbox, chances are every single

candidate has dropped something off for you.  Usually, Education, Achievements, Positions

held in the community and many other things are shared.

This just totally doesn't jive with snowmans post over in the other forum telling us that ONLY republicans would stoop so low as to cheat and lie to steal an election. He or she (snowman) said the dems were our only hope as Americans! Not only am I shocked at this turn of events, I'm also disillusioned with the democrats now..........

What a world, what a world......

Victor Truth is basically right in what he/she said in this post. Most of you know I have been involved with the Chatter for years, and love the site! However, I'd be the first to tell you all that you need to take the posts on this site with a grain of salt. There is so much rumor, hearsay, innuendo, and unfortunately some downright untruths posted on here that it's not funny.

Yes, there is some good stuff, some truth, some facts that can be backed up but how do we/you decide what is true or a real fact? Unless you know the poster or do your homework you can't be sure.

IMO, VT is also correct in why we don't have more candidates or local politicians on the forum. And that is shameful; that adults cannot behave in a civil manner to other members, whether or not they are in/running for office. No, too many of you want to act like kids. All you can think about is trashing, bashing, slinging mud...

The one thing VT posted that I don't agree with is the watching the mailbox...mine, at least, has been noticeably empty of campaign material...

I actually did get the democrat "newsletter " in the mail today, chuckled a little, and, since I didn't have any fish to wrap, threw it away*. I really don't care what a Clarksville democrat has to say anymore, they done burned that bridge.

*yeah dems, I threw it in the trash, didn't recycle it.

Breakfast Club

The intrepid  Breakfast Club

does always have attendees from both the D side and the R side.

They are from different parts of the county.

Some are actual members

of breakaway factions

from splinter groups

and some are not.

It is lively to say the least.....

A number was brought up to us

and no one seemed

to know what it

represented

to date.

Now, don't be mean to 'ol SR.

The number discussed was: 22,372.85.

What is it?

:drink:

Did you ever find out what it meant?

Little Tommy

Lots of political paperwork going in the trash.

I have always said all parties should pick a charity, spend all

this money on charities.   That would be great.

Mayors race money could help a lot of children.

I was shocked by a tactic used lately.

Creating a fake Facebook account and then

trashing everyone of another party.

Will the party who did this please stand up??

I guess it could be put on chatter, but it is bad.

Rumor, hearsay or innuendo? If fact, please link us to these horrible pages that one horrible party set up to try to con those of us who are ignorant enough to believe everything we read on Facebook......

Shocking!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like tactics some have been using on Chatter. Did they use any facts or just rumors that they didn't investigate?

I heard/I read on facebook all the democrat candidates have a satanic ritual before each of their meetings!

There, see how silly that sounds?

It's very telling of ANY group and their supporters. Yes, Obama has been able to cash in on the ignorance of voters nationwide, and I guess I can see the merit in sticking with a tried and true system, but, no matter what party you're affiliated with, don't just assume that everybody within earshot is a drooling moron.
