Third time’s a charm, at least for Joe Hubbard.
The Jeffersonville Police Department major was caucused in Tuesday night at Clarksville Town Hall as a Clark County councilman At-large to replace new Sellersburg Clerk-Treasurer Barbara Bratcher Haas, who vacated the seat.
It’s Hubbard’s third run at the county council in the last year, following a loss in November’s general election in District 3 and second place in a caucus soon after to replace Clark County Clerk of Courts Susan Popp on the council.
Hubbard, a Democrat, received 30 votes of the 52 precinct committeepersons at the caucus, emerging as the clear winner against four other hopefuls.
“With that many people running and the votes like that, it was pretty amazing,” he said.
In second place was Edward Culpepper “Pepper” Cooper, who received 14 votes.
Good luck Joe! Let Susan Popp be your mentor and you'll serve the citizens well.
