What did Lonnie do...this time?

We're winning...

The timing is awful...

Must be something big to cause this kind of commotion with a little more than a month until the season starts...

Lack of control of kids at a camp.....

Although I believe someone inside was out for him..

More later...

What always gets me a guy gets fired as a coach, but it is

ok to teach students.   Im not saying he should not be teaching.

It is just funny how sports dominate.

Jeff will miss him.

Sorry to hear about Lonnie.Talked with him last week and he was upbeat, optimistic.

No doubt someone was out to get him.

Terrible timing.

I've heard different stories, but don't know what happened.

well.... a school board member commits a felony, pleads guilty and is on probation for four years yet remains on the school board ---- nothing surprises me!

When I saw the notification IM had made the most recent post....I made myself a bet...would it mention TP or not.  Would it be on topic or would it be

another TP complaint.  Let me just say,  I won my bet.  Cough(BS)cough.

Why not Pesty? I guess you support having a felon on the school board. I don't and I will mention it every time I can. Glad you won your bet! It was an easy one to win.

My point is that if we aren't concerned about a school board member who commits a felony -- why should we be concerned about a teacher/coach who did something??

Thanks IM.  I bet myself that if your post didn't mention TP, I would have to go without a scoop of ice cream this evening.  Whew!  That was a close one!

But, then again...I guess deep down I knew the odds were in favor of the ice cream.  ( sea salt caramel oh yeah).

I would hope that there is a really solid reason for this as mid-July may the worst time possible to create a varsity football coaching vacancy.

I read the recent CJ piece on this...Lonnie makes reference to the fact that some of the players stayed out after curfew and he made school officials aware of such the next day. Shortly thereafter, he's fired. I can't imagine that is a sole reason but supposedly they gave him a letter detailing whatever the reasons were and it is not public (personnel reasons).

I have to be with IM on this one, whatever the discretion, unless it involved safety of the kids involved, it is hard to take any such action seriously when the matter is being approved by the board where a convicted felon continues to sit. I'm sorry, there's just something wrong with this scenario of pious decisions without knowing the whole story.

This is another very strange situation. It seems eerily similar to the volleyball Coach Cox scenario not long ago. The lack of explanation is troubling and it makes me suspect that, as suggested above, some insider was out to get him. Unfortunately, we may never know.

Doesn't GCCS always have good reasons for their decisions?
