Early dismissal for Silver Creek and Floyd County today.  I hope the forecast is wrong, but stay safe everyone.

Looks pretty dangerous to me to put children that young on without a helmet!

Ugh!  I HATE snow.  Just came home less than an hour ago, all footsteps leading to the door are now recovered in snow!  And it's still coming down!  It was treacherous driving home and the defrost couldn't work fast enough on an already warmed engine.  Seriously, folk, if you don't need to be out - don't!  Stay safe, stay warm and hold on . . . Spring is coming!

MAYOR MIKE MOORE ESTABLISHES CITY SNOW HOTLINE

Mayor Mike Moore said the City of Jeffersonville has established its Snow HotLine for residents to call if they have non-emergency issues during the winter storm.

If you have questions or want to report snow related issues, call the Snow HotLine is 812-285-6532. City staff will answer calls starting at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow. If you have an emergency, you should call 911 directly.

“We want to ensure city government is connected with the citizens during this storm,” said Moore who first established the snow hotline during last month's storm.

The Jeffersonville Police and Fire Department will provide transportation for residents unable to get to essential medical appointments. The transportation is only available to ambulatory walking individuals.

It is horrible out there but it seems they are working to plow and salt and if you HAVE to be out just SLOW down. 62 was covered but there is a path. It was slow and go trying to get home from the River Ridge area. Think they need a few more plows running up and down there!

Got out and did some walking on the floodwall trail this morning, it was so nice and quiet, didn't see another person but saw some ducks floating around in Mill creek. I'll bet there was 24" of snow in some spots on top of the floodwall where the wind had drifted it!

I also have one, but it is no match for a real 4x4

My little 4 cyl Ford Escape does surprisingly well in this stuff. It's front wheel drive and lacks just enough horsepower to not want to spin the wheels (my expert throttle control may help as well) I got it just before last years white blanket of death descended upon us, and have really been impressed with its snow handling. Things like a snow mobile!
