Hmmm...

Woo has EXPOSED

that the Jeffersonville City Council

last night just appropriated an ASTONISHING additional $3,000,000

for SOCCER FIELDS !

$3,000,000 !

This council  failed to notice or care that the filings in the Jeffersonville City Court

was manipulated

downward for three or four years,

thus seriously reducing its caseload.

The council attacked the court and temporarily abolished

the excellent city court due to ther alleged concerns about the cost.

They ignored the case manipulation.

Instead the council critters ASTONISHINGLY claimed

that they were SAVING MONEY !

Justice will suffer.

The public will suffer.

Citizens nabbed for petty misdemeanor offenses will,
instead of going to city court,
be jammed into a Circuit Court
as a result.
Minor social problems offenses will now
see persons forced into a Circuit Court
and the weak, specious justification
by the council
was that they were
SAVING money.....!

Jeffersonville City Council Watch

Governmental Genius Moves

Let me see if I comprehend this weird one:

1.)The case load filings are manipulated away from  the Jeffersonville City Court.
The Jefersonville City Council ignores it

and  does not ask that the case load be returned to its normal level of the last 55 years.,

2.)The council in a pack mentality mindlessly moves to temporarily  abolish the court.,

3.)The really strange justification is that hey are SAVING MONEY.,

4.) Citizens arrested for petty offenses will be charged in a Circuit Court.,

5.) The council then arrogantly  plans to spend ANOTHER $3,000,000 on soccer fields.......

Governmental Genius Moves

Kelly, they will save nothing.
The Indiana Supreme Court
has published case load summaries
of all the courts in Indiana for many years.
The council move  is all a scam.
The manipulation of the case was ignored.

The public suffers very badly
form this abusive action.
The council continues to spend.
and the court process is harmed.
It is a terrible abuse by a governmental entity.

OK. How much money did they claim the city was saving?

Hutt, since you're in support of the elimination of the court, you must know the claimed savings.

No, Kelley, I don't have the figures in front of me. City court is something we don't have to have.

Governmental Genius Moves

The council is spending a lot of extra money on "bells and whistles"
when basic governmental services are attacked..
With the normal historical caseload filed in the city court,
the $3,000,000 blasted on the soccer fields
plus the additional cost to the city taxpayers
on their share of county and state tax burden to place
the cases through a Circuit Court

would operate the Jeffersonvile City Court for a lot of years.

Courts belong in the "courthouse" not in city or town halls. Ever wonder how courthouse got its name?

Kelley, the attack on the Jeffersonville City Court is a scam.

The city courts in Indiana have always been very efficient to operate

and serve an excellent mission.

They do an excellent job.

The attempts at this "consolidation" are just a BIg Government ruse.

Small local units of government are the most accountable to the people.

This battle  was decided over forty years ago in Indianapolis.

The studies were all very thorough  and complete.

The persons attacking the court are misguided

because they do not have the historical information.

If nsbhm looked at all of the data, he would also concur.

He does not have the historical information.

This never should have degenerated into a local p****** match the way it did.

The intelligent political way of involvement

would have been to run candidates of their choosing and let the electorate decide.

Then the court sould still be fulfilling  its excellent role in Indiana's court system.

This confusion was unwarranted.

http://www.in.gov/dl...udget_Order.pdf

^pages 21 & 22 are Jeffersonville.

This one appropriation is an entire year's collection of property taxes?

The levy for 2014 was just under $2.5 million.

Wrong. The excellent Jeffersonville City Court  was in the City-County Building
until the city hall was moved into a separate building.
The name 'courhouse' is a misnomer.

City and town courts are conducted
in both  'combined governmental building  structures'
and

separate city, town, and viliage halls all over America.

Exhibit:

As an example, did  you watch the riots,  demonstrations, and subsequent arrests in Ferguson?

Guess where those arrests were filed and properly adjudicated?

The Ferguson City Court

which is located in the Ferguson City Hall.

Jeffersonville City Council Watch

Remember, this excess spending issue
and the subterfuge by the Jeffersonville City Council
is not about Wayne Estopinal or soccer
and the nice complex.

Wayne is a very nice guy.
an accomplished professional whom I admire,
and a great asset for Jeffersonville.
Soccer is a great international sport.

The Jeffersonville City Council

based their decision upon misinformation and manipulation
in my opinion.

Some or all of the members were deceived.

The public will be  less well served.

It was a mistake.

Just hold the $3,000,000,
get the Indiana general Assembly to re-create a new  Jeffersonville City Court.
file the cases fairly,
and the problem is solved.
Better government.

The strange city court manipulation

and subterfuge:

sub·ter·fuge
/ˈsəbtərˌfyo͞oj/
noun: subterfuge; plural noun: subterfuges
deceit used in order to achieve one's goal.
synonyms: trickery, intrigue, deviousness, deceit, deception, dishonesty, cheating, duplicity, guile, cunning, craftiness, chicanery, pretense

City court was done away with by this genius council led by Mr. Mayor wanna be. Send the cases to the county. Hire a new magistrate.
Over load the caseload even more. Rent a separate building and put the financial burden on the county.
Now the city has more money and less financial burden. Let's build a 3 mill parking lot for a building that we don't have and can't
Afford. Mr. Julius, thank you so much for your votes and foresight ! Lol

If the mayor wanted to keep city court he could have vetoed the ordinance. But my bet is the mayor is happy it will be gone. A unanimous vote by the council is rare on a highly debated topic such as city court. Even the mayor's puppets on the council voted to abolish city court, think it was even Owen that made the motion to abolish city court.  You can try to blame Julius all you want, but only had 1 vote. As president Julius could neither make a motion nor second a motion, all he could do is vote for or against.  Why don't you ask the other 8 members of the council WHY they voted to abolish city court? Can't blame one person for the actions of 8 others.

And.....I think the vote to spend the 3 million was also a unanimous vote.

I'm happy the council didn't vote to spend our tax dollars to pay the debt of others like redevelopment recently voted.

:frantics:..the  spin to try to justify  this $3,000,000 boondoggle expenditure

and the weak justifications for the destruction of the court  is weaker than usual....

.

The  $3,000,000 could be saved,

utilized to run a new city court for some time,

or returned to the taxpayers.

The city court is a vital part of the government's function

The word from JHS today is that swimming and wrestling teams now want $3,000,000

each as well.....

Uh, oh....another rumor is that the Jeff Youth Football league is also wanting $3,000, 000

from the city taxpayers as well....
