I heard that Bob Polston will have competition. Ryan Lynch, a republican, has filed to run for town council at large. Some of you may remember Ryan as the young man who outnumbered Tetley in district only votes but lost to Tetley thanks to those darned town wide votes.

Good luck, Ryan!

Here is what I know so far.

Town judge:  Tony Singleton-R

Clerk treasurer:  Brandon Schiller-R

At large:  Ryan Lynch-R, Paul Fetter-R

District 1:  Tim Hauber-R

District 4:  Jamie Hudgins-R

District 5:  Richard Barr-R

This information came from the county clerk's office about 4PM Friday.  Others might have signed up between 4PM and 4:30PM.  The thing that strikes me is that there have been no Dems to sign up yet, although several have indicated they intend to run.  They are probably waiting to see what the GOP does.

Smack myself in the head! I didn't realize until this moment that we had two at large seats...how duhhh is that?

So how does this work, Tom D? I assume only one of the two can move forward after the primary, but I sure hope I'm assuming incorrectly! Paul Fetter is not the at large that needs to go....

I'm pretty sure that at least two from each party can run in the general election for the at large seats.

Two Repubs and two Dems will move forward to the general election.  The top two vote getters in the general election are elected to the two at-large seats on the council.  And agreed...Fetter is not the at-large that needs to go.

Noon, 6Feb2015.  Don't forget to put your name in the hat.  Clarksville needs to replace some of the current council with honest, moral people of integrity.

I call bs on Mike.  I have a friend who is going to file as a DEM

and he is his own man.  Your type of comments taint the pool for

good Democrats.

Shame on the GOP if they don't have someone running for every seat in Clarksville and all cities and towns in Clark County.  This is the time to switch all these elections to the GOP.  Democrats are tired and have no energy and the Repubs have all the momentum after 2014.

If honesty, morality, and integrity were what people voted for, I'd already be elected.

Tom,
I did not realize that you did not want that discussion on this particular thread.
All of this was covered in Indiana Government and Civics class
and the details are elusive.
I remember that the debate on this all was discussed
the last time Clarksville had the city vs town referendum.
Is that a realistic possibility for this Spring?
Clarksville's government needs to keep up with
the changes and growth of the town.
Should I move the discussion to a new thread?

You are free to start a new thread at any time.  If you think the topic hasn't been hashed out enough, please feel free to do so.  Off topic discussions happen sometimes, but the intent here at CCC is to try to keep discussions reasonably on topic.  So, if you don't want to discuss who is running for office, then yes, start a new thread.  Be aware that you might not get much discussion, since the town-wide vs. district voting issue is on the back burner for now.  Any change would not be effective until the 2019 elections.

I'm not Sleepy, but I'm pretty sure the 'friend' will run for a town council district seat.  The person has name recognition.
