Well, if I have this right, the menu looks like this:

Pimento Cheese Sandwiches - Snowman

Bologna Sandwiches - RunnerGirl

Potato Soup, Lemonade - Donna

Bean Soup, Cornbread - GG

Fruit - Ron

Dessert, pies - Chris & Katie

Snacks - IM

Did I miss anyone or anything?

We're going to put 10 more Christmas gift bags together, for a total of 20. Consider them for men, but they could be given to women, too, if they didn't mind wearing men's socks. Basically rather generic...

I will try to put a few more bags together this weekend -- and make them for women this time.  Maybe make a couple for kids too because sometimes we have a few younger ones.   Do you know if we need to get some more bowls or plates?  or does Paul have them?

What kind of pie/dessert should we bring? I was thinking apple and maybe chocolate.

Are we going to give Paul all the Christmas bags so he can distribute them to the men and women who are homeless first?  We will be there around 5:30.

All right - normally I am the one suggesting ideas but I am fresh out this time.  Someone tell me what to bring!  LOL!

Tina --- bananas would be great --- they always love to take a banana or orange with them for later.  Apples usually don't go as well because they are harder to bite into for some folks.

Shredded cheese or oyster crackers.  But, yeah, soft fruit is always appreciated!

I'll bring shredded cheese and oyster crackers and anything else I can figure out to spoil 'em for Christmas!

Indeed it was!  GG's soup didn't last 20 minutes!  We served about 60 people, and many of those went for seconds!  Runnergirl's suggestion to give the Christmas bags to Paul for distribution to those who truly had a need was spot on!  Her bologna sandwiches lasted a nano-second . . . who knew bologna sandwiches was a rare treat?  Snowman's granny recipe of pimento cheese sandwiches was a hit!  Tina brought some flavored coffee creamer as a treat, and boy, was it.  Another successful dinner . . . now, what to do for January?

Donna, your potato soup was gone just as quick!

Since our team has gotten smaller, RunnerGirl and I were discussing the possibility of bringing some new volunteers on board. What do you all think? If we'd want to do this, do any of you have any ideas on how to interest others in joining the team?

Thank you, Tina. I did take the liberty of moving the thread to the actual ChatterBox in hope that more people would read it. I'm not sure if many members read this sub-forum.

I had to drop off my soup & lemonade before the dinner due to another obligation. I returned to find an angel eating apple pie, (thanks Chris! It was good!) telling me that I missed the prayer. I asked her if she prayed for me, and she said, "Yes, Mommy tells me I should."
