Saturday August 30th

9:00am Morning Nature Hike
Meet the Park Naturalist at the Trail 1 parking lot for a morning hike through the forest.
Trail 1 is a Rugged 2.4 mile trail with great views of 14 mile creek and natural limestone
outcroppings.
12:00pm Make & Take Nature Craft
Come to the Clark Shelter to make your own Crinoid fossil. What’s a Crinoid you ask?
Be sure to come to this family activity to find out!
3:00pm Family Nature Hike
Bring the family to the Oak Shelter for a guided hike along Trail 2, suitable for all ages this
trail marked easy has scenic waterfalls and plant life for all to enjoy!

 

Sunday, August 31st
9:00am Morning Nature Hike
Meet the Naturalist at the Trail 3 & 4 parking lot for this 2.1 mile rugged hike on
Trail 3. This trail offers a close view of the Portersville Bridge and Fourteen Mile
Creek, also come and hear the true tales of Trail 3’s dark past, being a site of a
murder in the 1800’s!
12:00pm Campground Scavenger Hunt
Meet the Naturalist at the Campground Gatehouse for this fun scavenger hunt!
Great Family Activity!
3:00pm Nature Hike
Meet the Naturalist at the Trail 3 & 4 parking lot for a guided hike along Trail 4,
one of our longest trails at 2.9 miles. Trail 4 offers scenic views of Fourteen Mile
Creek as well as some of the largest trees in the park!
5:00pm Make & Take Nature Craft
Come to the Oak Shelter to make your own pine cone bird feeder!
7:00pm Roving Naturalist
Question about the park? Wonder what trees are at your campsite? Look for the Park
Naturalist roving the campground to answer all your questions.
9:00pm S’more Cook Off
Who wants S’mores? Come to the Oak Shelter for a campfire tradition! Have a
special S’more recipe? Bring it and share!

 

Monday, September 1st LABOR DAY
9:00am Morning Nature Hike
Meet at the Campground Gatehouse for this guided hike on Trail 5. Trail 5 is the
parks shortest trail but still offers great views and rugged terrain.
12:00pm Fossils of Charlestown State Park
Meet at the Cedar Grove picnic area to learn about fossils, lasting one hour with a
short walk.
3:00pm History Hike
Meet the Naturalist at the River Overlook Parking lot for this hike along Trail 6.
. Many historic features to see and discuss along the way.
