Our next dinner will be August 14.  Any ideas on what to serve this time around?

Not a clue, really.  Can throw out ideas:  lasagna/baked spaghetti; sautéed fresh vegetables (and chicken?) with noodles; summer soups.  Tomatoes & cucumbers will be abundant.  Anybody else with suggestions or ideas?  I kind of miss the birthday cake idea as one of the desserts.

I've been stumped since you posted the question. Seems you guys have hit on most themes that come to mind.

Fresh veggies and and a grilled or stir-fried chicken does sound good and seasonal.

Almost any side and dessert works well with it too.

Does Paul have chicken for us to cook?  I just made a chicken stir fry at home using fresh veggies and it was yummy!

i like the baked lasagna idea, or other types of casserole dishes like that... easier to make, and transport.   loved that chicken and dumplings when we did that.

Do you all realize the August dinner will be the one year anniversary of Team Chatter? Is that great or what?!

Folks, we can't talk politics here on the ChatterBox forum, but I feel like I need to mention the Jeff forum's Homeless thread going on right now as it relates to Team Chatter. From reading that thread, apparently two members of our team will not be helping us any longer due to Exit 0's negativity toward Jeff officials and the JPD. I hope if any other team members feel the same, you will let us know here, so we may plan our dinners accordingly.

Chopper and backinthegame, I do understand your feelings and respect the decisions you have made. Your participation and contributions were appreciated by all. But, we will miss you...both personally and as a part of the team.

I will be there with the usual snacks and probably with my little "helpers". I like the camaraderie of our group and think we are doing something worthwhile. However, I was also disturbed by the negativity toward Jeff officials and JPD. I don't think that will help the situation at all.

Being part of this team has been a wonderful experience.  We have met some amazing people from those that are on Team Chatter to the less fortunate that we are serving.  Our hard work is always rewarded with smiles and complimentary comments about the food we made that month, which makes all this worthwhile and has us coming back month after month.  We are planning to continue to be part of the Team Chatter.

I have really enjoyed working with you all at the dinners and super enjoyed meeting everyone. I have decided to put my efforts in other areas. Most of you know that I live in Charlestown and will do my part up here. I do not like what is going on with exit o and the police department to be very honest. I have struggled with deciding to help out or not but today made that decision pretty easy. I feel for the people that are truly homeless and mentally Ill and will help in other ways.

Donna, I will be there with something...just haven't figured out what yet! I can bake cakes, but I never learned to decorate them pretty for a birthday.

I hear you, GG! Hubs tells me I don't so much frost a cake as I spackle it!

I would suggest cupcakes instead of a cake --- don't have to worry about cutting it and plates, etc. Easier to "decorate" too!

Seems our menu is coming together! Salad and Garlic Bread would be a nice addition. I will be happy to provide a dish to accompany the meal. Will wait to see what is needed. Cupcakes are a good idea, IM. (Those I can frost!)

I'll bring salad stuff...lettuce, sliced cucumbers, shredded cheese, etc.

As usual this summer, Chris will be at school and BJ might have to work, but I can pull the GG baseball bat out on 'em and make 'em provide the garlic bread!
