Any ideas anyone?  We talked about stews/soups featuring garden harvests.  What say you chatterers?

Soup sounds good, maybe some cornbread?

Since it will be july, what if we did cooler foods?

Like ham, tuna, chicken salad - pasta salads, etc

Sandwiches would be a good idea. something that can be prepped before going then put together at the church. I won't be able to attend but can purchase some lunch meat from GFS and get it to someone.

I agree with Tina, cooler foods may be best since it will be so hot.

My 11am-8pm Schedule makes it hard to do anything during the week. Hopefully I will be on a 9-6 schedule by the Aug dinner and if so Bigfoot will make a appearance!

Ron said if we go with the cooler food idea, he would make some macaroni salad and deviled eggs. I'd make tuna salad...GFS has some really big cans of tuna. I look at them and want to buy one but it would make way more tuna salad than we could eat! This would give me an excuse to finally buy one, lol.

Should we pre-make the sandwiches or bring the buns and make them there?

Fresh sandwiches are best, but if they are made the day of the dinner, they would be good.  It's when tomato, lettuce and mayo sit on bread overnight, they get a bit icky.

Tina, we ended up with two full watermelons left over and still plenty of slices available.

Granny also dropped off two #10 cans of Vanilla Pudding and Chocolate Pudding that weren't used.  I'm not much on making sweet treats, anyone with ideas using one or both of those?

We were surprised how many folk attended the last dinner, but a lot of them were helping set up at the Smokin' on the River.  Not real good at estimating crowds, but I'm guessing it was in the neighborhood of 70.

Um, IM, I owe you a box of chips and fudge rounds.  Those were unused, until I brought them home!  My little snackers dove right in!  The cookies & crackers were a hit!

edit to note:  we had chips to go with the hot dogs for the dinner.
