It's time to start thinking about the May 8th dinner. I will be out of town so will not be able to meet Paul to open the kitchen. Once the menu is set, I will contribute to it by having my contribution delivered by someone.

Any ideas for the meal? Tina suggested chicken and noodles. Warning! If you use Paul's chicken it will require getting the chicken from Paul a few days before the dinner, thawing, boiling and removing meat from the bone...a bit of a time consuming endeavor!

I think Mexican food was suggested, at our last dinner, by some of the people we feed.

I will bring the usual snacks - cookies, crackers, chips and candy. Also, the container that the lemonade was in last time
leaked and we had to mop up the floor with paper towels several times. Not sure whose container it was but if we use it this timewe need a bucket to put under it! And several people asked for water -- if anyone has something we can put some water in, it
would be helpful.

hmm... yeah we need to figure this out pretty soon, Derby just around the corner and then May 8 wll be here in no time.

Mexican sounds good to me. We could do casseroles, i could make a couple of them...

here's one that's similar to my recipe:

http://www.chef-in-t...cken-casserole/

suggestions for sides:   refried beans, chips, salsa, guacamole, salads etc.

here's another link for ideas:  if you click on the pic it should bring up the recipe, I think.

Yeah, someone suggested chicken & dumplins but two of them suggested mexican.

I think we can do a mexican theme pretty easy.

Feeding people that might otherwise go without and socializing among chatter members; yes; very little.

Poppie, we all just discuss (right here on Chatter) what we can donate for the next dinner and what time we will be able to be at the church and somehow it all comes together. It's always a night of great food and fellowship.

Poppie, if you'd like to check it out, we meet the second Thursday of each month at the First Presbyterian Church on Chestnut Street in downtown Jeff.

Exit 0 has partnered with church/civic groups to provide a meal each day of the month.  Whether they are homeless, elderly, handicapped or lonely, it is a remarkable night for food and fellowship.

And, us Chatter-bugs are not near as scary in person as we can be on CCC!

I think we discussed taco salad or we could even just do tacos too.  If taco salad, we should probably bring some bowls!

We will need shredded cheese and chopped tomatoes.  That with the lettuce goes on tacos, burritos or salads.  No bowls necessary.  Salads eat just as well on a plate!  I can bring a #10 size can of refried beans!  Any other suggestions?

But not as much room for everything else we'll be bringing!

Another suggestion for others is another big container of taco meat and spanish rice is another idea.

It all fits on a plate.  I'm a pot-lucking, church-goer, it all fits on one plate or go for seconds.  Gotta love the church ladies for that!
