Does anyone know if the power was restored yet?

1,200 without power in Clark County
9:53 PM, Saturday, July 7, 2012

An Indiana electric cooperative hopes to have power restored by 3:30 a.m. to some 1,200 customers who were without electricity after a substation in Charlestown, Ind., went down late Saturday afternoon.

A worker at the Clark County REMC, a rural electric cooperative, said that the Bethany Road Substation failed about 4:50 p.m., cutting off power to homes in the area.

The temperature Saturday reached 106 degrees in Louisville less than a half hour after the substation failed, leaving those customers without air conditioning.

Yeah, dude, this kind of heat is not just uncomfortable - it's dangerous.  The elderly and disabled are at especially high risk.

That's why folks need to fend for themselves.
Generator + window unit = win.....

Unfortunately the elderly, disabled and poverty-stricken are more than likely unable to afford the insurance of a generator and window unit.  That's why I tend to take the opposite view - citizens of a community should band together and look out for each other in emergencies.

Mine came back on right around 11:30 last night.  Just remember, the folks working to restore our power were alot hotter than you and I got.

Everybody at church this morning had their power restored between 9:30 and 11:30 P.M.  Lots of older members who really aren't equipped to deal with the weather.  Some spent the day/night with relatives.  One person about whom I was worried and couldn't reach was in the hospital, so she was fine.  Hope the other folks in the Bethany/Stony Point area were able to cope with the head.  I sure do feel sorry for the utility workers out there working, and anyone else who works outdoors.  Thank goodness the weather seems to be breaking.

There shall be showers of blessing,
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain....

Storm is brewing now and the temps have dropped. Too bad it is today instead of yesterday.

Its my fault the power went out.  It was so hot out, I decide pizza, beer and a movie.  Put the pizza in the "electric" oven, grabbed a cold beer and put a movie in the player.  Hit the lazy boy and grabbed the remote.  As soon as I hit the t.v. on button, the power went out.  I was the one that broke the camels back with the push of a button.  Sorry to all that had to suffer.  I headed off to the brothers and jumped in the pool.
